Remote monitoring for currency equipment — Adelaide, national reach

WaTo sets up remote monitoring for your coin machines, note counters and precision scales so you know what's happening with your equipment without being on site. Machines report their status automatically — uptime, error counts, jam rates, throughput — and you get alerted when something needs attention. Problems get caught early, downtime drops, and your team spends less time checking on equipment and more time running the business. Adelaide-based, monitoring equipment nationally since 2001.

What is remote currency monitoring?

Remote monitoring connects your currency equipment to a central system that watches performance data in real time. Coin machines, note counters and scales report their status over your network — counting volumes, error rates, uptime and maintenance indicators. When something falls outside normal parameters, an alert goes to the right person. Instead of finding out a machine is down when a customer complains, you find out when the first warning sign appears.

What we monitor

Uptime and availability

Know which machines are running, which are offline and how long they've been down — across all your sites, in real time.

Error and jam detection

Error codes, jam frequencies and reject rates tracked continuously. Trends spotted before they become breakdowns.

Throughput tracking

Coins counted, notes processed, values handled — tracked per machine so you can see utilisation and spot anomalies.

Automated alerts

Notifications sent to the right person when something needs attention — email, SMS or integration with your ticketing system.

Maintenance triggers

Service reminders based on actual usage and condition data, not just calendar dates. Machines get serviced when they need it.

Multi-site visibility

All your locations visible in one place. Compare performance across sites and allocate support resources where they matter most.

Who it's for

  • Businesses running coin machines or note counters across multiple sites who can't have staff checking equipment constantly.
  • Banks and credit unions needing reliable uptime from branch currency equipment with minimal manual oversight.
  • RSLs, clubs and casinos where machine downtime directly affects operations and customer experience.
  • Retail groups and cash-handling operations wanting to reduce unplanned service calls and extend equipment life.

How it works

  1. We assess your equipment and network. We check which machines can report data, what your network supports and what monitoring makes sense for your setup.
  2. We connect your machines. Equipment configured to send status data over your network to WaTo's monitoring platform — securely, with minimal bandwidth.
  3. We set up alerts and thresholds. Alert rules tailored to your operation — what triggers a notification, who gets it and how urgently.
  4. We monitor and respond. Ongoing monitoring with alerts reviewed by our team. When something needs action, we coordinate the response — remote fix or on-site visit.
  5. We report and refine. Regular summaries of equipment performance, trends and recommendations. Alert thresholds adjusted as we learn what's normal for your fleet.

Why WaTo for remote monitoring

  • We know currency equipment inside out — what the error codes mean, what the data is telling you and when to act.
  • Monitoring paired with maintenance capability — when we spot a problem, we can fix it too, not just report it.
  • Adelaide-based with national reach — local team, Australia-wide monitoring and support.
  • IT and currency expertise combined — we handle the network, the equipment and the monitoring platform as one service.
  • Straightforward pricing — you know what monitoring costs and what's included. No surprise fees when an alert fires.

Remote monitoring questions

Do our machines need to be networked?

Yes — remote monitoring requires machines to be connected to your network so they can send data. If your machines aren't currently networked, we can help with that as part of the setup.

What happens when an alert fires?

It depends on what you want. Alerts can go directly to your team, to WaTo for triage, or both. For managed monitoring, our team reviews alerts and contacts you with a recommended action — or just handles it if that's the arrangement.

Can you monitor equipment from other suppliers?

In most cases, yes. If the machine outputs status data over a network — which most modern currency equipment does — we can usually connect it to our monitoring platform. We'll confirm during the assessment.

Is this the same as a performance dashboard?

Related but different. Monitoring is about watching equipment in real time and alerting on problems. A dashboard is about visualising trends and performance data for reporting and planning. Many clients use both — monitoring for day-to-day operations, dashboards for management reporting.

Want to know what your equipment is doing right now?

Let us set up remote monitoring so you find out about problems before your customers do — not after.

No two businesses are the same — so nothing we do is off-the-shelf. Every solution is built around yours, and kept simple.

Our story

Built in Adelaide, since 2001

WaTo Consulting was founded by John Watson in Adelaide in 2001. Over two decades it's earned a name for tailored work across a wide range of industries — helping businesses of every size run more smoothly, work more efficiently and grow steadily, without blowing the budget or disrupting the day-to-day.

Emma Watson (née Dickenson) played a significant part in shaping what WaTo became. She brought real expertise and a clear vision for where it could go — expanding the business, bringing in new systems and fresh thinking, and raising the standard of how things are done. A great deal of what WaTo is, we owe to her.

Today it's all tailored, never off-the-shelf — IT & Digital, Business & Web Hosting, built around what each client actually needs. Over the years those areas have come together under one roof: our IT & Digital, Currency, Business and Web work (through Whosts.au) now all sit within WaTo Consulting — one team, one standard, looking after the lot.

When you work with us, you're not a client — you're a partner.
