Network cabling & infrastructure for Adelaide businesses

Good cabling is the foundation everything else sits on — your internet, phones, Wi-Fi, security cameras, the lot. We install structured cabling that's done properly, labelled clearly, and built for where your business is heading. Adelaide-based team, tidy workmanship, no shortcuts.

What is network cabling & infrastructure?

Network cabling is the physical wiring that connects your computers, phones, printers and other devices to each other and to the internet. Structured cabling means doing it in an organised way — with patch panels, data cabinets, proper cable runs and clear labelling — so it's reliable now and easy to expand later. Think of it as the plumbing of your office network.

What we install

Cat6 & Cat6A cabling

Ethernet cable runs installed to Australian standards, with Cat6A recommended for new fit-outs to handle 10 Gbps over the full distance.

Fibre optic cabling

For longer runs between buildings or floors, or where you need the fastest possible backbone connection.

Patch panels & data cabinets

Neatly terminated cable runs with labelled patch panels and properly ventilated cabinets to keep everything organised.

Cable certification & testing

Every run tested and certified to confirm it meets spec — you get the test results, not just our word for it.

Office fit-out & relocation

Cabling planned and installed for new offices, renovations or moves — coordinated with your builders and electricians.

Existing network clean-up

Messy cable runs re-routed, labelled and documented so the next person who opens the cabinet knows what's what.

Who it's for

  • Businesses moving into a new office or fitting out an existing space.
  • Offices with messy, undocumented cabling that's become a nightmare to troubleshoot.
  • Companies adding desks, meeting rooms or new locations and needing more data points.
  • Anyone planning a network upgrade who wants the physical layer done right first.

How it works

  1. Site survey. We visit your premises, look at the layout, and work out what cable runs you need and where they'll go.
  2. Plan and quote. You get a clear scope — cable type, number of runs, cabinet location — with a fixed quote before anything starts.
  3. Installation. Cable runs pulled, terminated and dressed neatly, with minimal disruption to your working day where possible.
  4. Testing and certification. Every run tested to confirm it meets the relevant standard, with results documented.
  5. Handover. Labelled patch panel, a cabling map, and a walkthrough so you know what connects to what.

Why WaTo for network cabling

  • We do both the cabling and the network gear — so the physical layer and the configuration actually work together.
  • Tidy, labelled runs that make sense to the next person who opens the cabinet, not just the one who installed it.
  • Every run tested and certified — you get documented proof, not a handshake.
  • We plan for growth so you're not re-cabling in two years when you add more desks.
  • Adelaide owned since 2001, with a team that's done office fit-outs across South Australia.

Network cabling questions

Should we go with Cat6 or Cat6A?

For any new installation, we recommend Cat6A. It costs roughly 20–40% more than Cat6 but supports 10 Gbps at full distance and handles interference better. Cabling stays in the walls for 10–15 years, so it's worth future-proofing now rather than re-cabling later.

Can you cable a building we're still fitting out?

Yes, and it's the best time to do it. We coordinate with your builders and electricians so cable runs go in at the right stage, before walls and ceilings are closed up.

How long does a typical office cabling job take?

A small office of 10–20 points can usually be done in a day or two. Larger fit-outs depend on the building and the number of runs, but we'll give you a clear timeline upfront.

Can you fix our existing messy cabling?

Absolutely. We re-route, re-terminate, label and document what's there. If some runs are damaged or substandard, we'll replace those and leave everything tidy and traceable.

Ready to get your cabling sorted?

Whether it's a new fit-out or tidying up what's already there, give us a call and we'll come take a look.

No two businesses are the same — so nothing we do is off-the-shelf. Every solution is built around yours, and kept simple.

Our story

Built in Adelaide, since 2001

WaTo Consulting was founded by John Watson in Adelaide in 2001. Over two decades it's earned a name for tailored work across a wide range of industries — helping businesses of every size run more smoothly, work more efficiently and grow steadily, without blowing the budget or disrupting the day-to-day.

Emma Watson (née Dickenson) played a significant part in shaping what WaTo became. She brought real expertise and a clear vision for where it could go — expanding the business, bringing in new systems and fresh thinking, and raising the standard of how things are done. A great deal of what WaTo is, we owe to her.

Today it's all tailored, never off-the-shelf — IT & Digital, Business & Web Hosting, built around what each client actually needs. Over the years those areas have come together under one roof: our IT & Digital, Currency, Business and Web work (through Whosts.au) now all sit within WaTo Consulting — one team, one standard, looking after the lot.

When you work with us, you're not a client — you're a partner.
