Our rates for Financial Year 2026/2027

We publish our rates rather than hiding them behind a sales call. These are the current figures from our rates schedule, the same numbers you'll see on your invoice. All prices exclude GST.

These rates apply from 1 July 2026. Changes are published here at least 30 days before they apply.

Consulting rates

Hourly rates are charged per hour or part of an hour.

Callout consult

$180 per hour

The standard rate for on-site work, with travel within the Adelaide metropolitan area included. Travel outside the Adelaide metropolitan area is quoted. It also applies to scheduled meetings attended remotely when they need a dedicated block of staff time.

Workshop / office consult

$115 per hour

Our discounted rate for work done remotely or by phone, web development consulting, equipment setup and testing in our workshop, and document preparation.

Urgent consult

$360 per hour

Applies outside 8:30am to 5pm Adelaide time on weekdays, on weekends and South Australian public holidays, or when we need to drop other work and attend immediately. We confirm this rate with you before attending where practical, and suggest alternatives. Work booked in advance for those hours is billed at the standard callout rate instead.

Courier charge

$40 per drop-off

Non-urgent, local (Adelaide metro) item drop-offs with no on-site labour. If we install or test anything while we're there, it becomes a callout. Regional and interstate freight is quoted.

Currency (cash handling) equipment

Note counters, coin counters, sorters and cash deposit machines, including the Money Machine MM1 and MM2. On-site work uses a service block. Sites further away also have a travel charge.

Service block

$360 per 2 hours

On-site work, charged per 2-hour block or part of one. Includes travel to sites up to 100 km driving distance from the Adelaide CBD (measured on Google Maps or similar). We charge by time on site, not per machine, and each site starts its own block.

Regional and interstate travel

$1,750 per site

Unless we quote a different figure before booking. For sites more than 100 km driving distance from the Adelaide CBD. It is a set charge for getting a technician to your site and back, including travel time, accommodation and transport, and it applies however we travel (we usually hire a vehicle or fly). We may charge less where cheaper travel is available, such as a shorter drive or two sites on one trip. If travel will cost more, such as short-notice or peak fares, we quote it first and book nothing until you approve it.

Away allowance

$230 per technician, per night

For each job that needs a technician to stay away from Adelaide.

Parts, consumables (such as pads and belts) and freight are quoted. Bench repairs and remote or phone support use the workshop rate. Urgent or after-hours work is charged at the urgent rate per hour, confirmed before we attend where practical. Work booked in advance for those hours uses the service block.

Ongoing services

Managed IT is quoted per business, and most small business clients land between $80 and $200 per user per month for a full managed service. Managed cyber security typically adds $30 to $80 per user per month on top of an IT plan. Both depend on how many users you have and what's included. We'll give you an exact figure once we have seen your setup.

Retainers

Regular clients can move to a retainer for predictable costs and priority access. It's usually a better effective rate than ad-hoc callouts if you're booking us often. Ask us to run the numbers against your actual usage. Retainers are set up under a signed retainer agreement, which for company clients includes a capped director's guarantee.

Payment terms, interest and invoicing details are in our service terms, and how our response times work is covered in our service levels. For a plain-English walkthrough of when each rate applies, read our guide: how much does IT support cost?

Who we work with

Our story

Built in Adelaide, since 2001

WaTo Consulting was founded by John Watson in Adelaide in 2001. Over two decades it's earned a name for tailored work across a wide range of industries, helping businesses of every size run more smoothly, work more efficiently and grow steadily, without blowing the budget or disrupting the day-to-day. Rumour has it the story starts much earlier, with a young Wato on his grandfather's knee in front of a Commodore 64, learning to code in BASIC.

Emma Watson (née Dickenson) was part of the story for a stage along the way. She brought real estate and property management expertise, and a clear view of where the business could go: growing it, bringing in new systems and fresh thinking, and lifting the standard of how things are done. WaTo has been through plenty of shapes and stages since, but one thing she helped sharpen has never changed: being consistent for the client is a must.

Today it's all tailored, never off-the-shelf: IT & Digital, Business & Web Hosting, built around what each client actually needs. Over the years those areas have come together under one roof: our IT & Digital, Currency, Business and Web Hosting work now all sit within WaTo Consulting. One team, one standard, looking after the lot.

When you work with us, you're a partner, not just a client.
