OSHC and before and after-school care IT setups in Adelaide
OSHC services often run in a school hall or classroom they don't own, set up in the morning and packed away at night. We build technology that fits that: portable sign-in, managed tablets that are charged and ready, and a connection that works whether or not the school's network lets you in.

The short answer
An OSHC setup is the technology a before and after-school care or vacation care service needs to run in a shared space. WaTo Consulting in Adelaide supplies and locks down sign-in tablets and staff devices, sets up a reliable connection (the school's network or a separate 4G or 5G service), arranges charging and storage, and manages everything remotely across one service or many.
What's different about OSHC?
Most services don't have their own building. They share a hall, library or classroom with a school, so there's often no fixed desk, no cabinet and limited access to the school's Wi-Fi. Families still need to sign children in and out quickly, educators need tablets for attendance and the childcare software, and the coordinator needs to reach head office. Everything has to be quick to set up, secure when packed away and easy for casual staff to use.
What we deliver
Portable sign-in
A sign-in tablet on a stand or wall mount that only runs your sign-in app, so families can check children in and out in seconds.
Managed staff tablets
Educator tablets locked to the apps they need, managed remotely, and set up so a lost or stolen device can be wiped.
A connection you control
Either a separate network agreed with the school, or a 4G or 5G router just for your service, so you're not stuck when the school's Wi-Fi changes.
Charging and storage
A lockable charging cabinet or trolley sized for your devices, so everything is charged and secure overnight.
Same setup at every site
For providers with several services, every site gets the same devices and settings, so staff can move between them.
Remote support
Devices are managed from our office, so most problems are fixed without anyone needing to visit the school.
Who it's for
- Before and after-school care and vacation care services.
- OSHC providers running several services across different schools.
- Schools running their own OSHC and wanting it separate from the school network.
- Services starting up at a new school site.
How the job runs
- We look at the space. Where families arrive, where devices can be stored and charged, and what network access the school will allow.
- We agree the setup. Devices, connection and storage, with a fixed price, and any arrangement with the school's IT team worked out up front.
- We prepare everything off site. Tablets enrolled, locked down and loaded with your apps before they arrive, so setup on the day takes an hour, not a week.
- We install and show your team. Sign-in, tablets, connection and charging in place, plus a short walkthrough for the coordinator and educators.
- We keep it running. Remote management, updates and help when a device plays up, with replacements set up the same way.
Why WaTo for OSHC
- We set up the same locked-down tablets and sign-in kiosks we run for childcare centres.
- Your own connection option, so the service doesn't depend on the school's network.
- Devices prepared off site, so setup doesn't disrupt sessions.
- Adelaide-based since 2001, with remote support for most issues.
- Easy to repeat at the next school when you grow.
OSHC setup questions
Can we use the school's Wi-Fi?
Sometimes. Some schools give the service its own network, others won't allow outside devices at all. We talk to the school's IT team first. If their network isn't an option, a small 4G or 5G router gives you a connection you control.
What happens if a tablet goes missing?
Because the tablets are managed, we can locate, lock or wipe a missing device remotely and set up a replacement the same way. See centre device management.
Will it work with our childcare software?
Yes. We set the tablets and sign-in kiosk up for the software you already use and lock them to it, so staff and families only see what they need.
Can you set up several services at once?
Yes. We prepare all the devices in our office with the same settings, then install them site by site, which keeps the setup consistent and quick.
