Network health check in Adelaide
If the Wi-Fi drops out in the meeting room, the internet slows to a crawl at 10am, or nobody remembers the password to the firewall, your network needs a check-up. We look at everything between your internet connection and your staff's devices, find what's slowing you down or leaving you exposed, and draw you a map of how it all connects.

The short answer
A network health check reviews a business's internet connection, firewall or router, switches, Wi-Fi access points and cabling. It checks firmware and security settings, measures Wi-Fi coverage, looks for single points of failure and documents how everything connects. WaTo Consulting runs network health checks for Adelaide offices and gives you a network diagram plus a ranked list of fixes.
What does a network health check cover?
We start at the internet connection and work inwards: the router or firewall, the switches in the cupboard, the Wi-Fi access points on the ceiling and the cabling between them. We check each piece is supported and up to date, look at how it's configured, and measure what your staff actually experience. Then we write down what we found, including the parts that are fine.
What we check
Firewall and router
Firmware version, admin passwords, open ports, remote access rules and whether the device still gets security updates.
Wi-Fi coverage
Signal strength and dead spots across the office, channel clashes with neighbours, and how many people each access point is carrying.
Wi-Fi security
Encryption settings, shared passwords, and whether guests and staff are kept on separate networks.
Switches and cabling
Port errors, slow links, tangled patch panels and anything running hot or past its supported life.
Internet and failover
Speed against what you pay for, whether there's a backup connection, and what stops working when the NBN drops.
Network diagram
A clear drawing of how your internet, firewall, switches, Wi-Fi and servers connect, so nobody has to guess next time.
Who it's for
- Offices where the Wi-Fi is slow or drops out in certain rooms.
- Businesses whose network was set up years ago by someone who's no longer around.
- Teams planning to add staff, move offices or put in new phones and want to know if the network will cope.
- Anyone who doesn't know the admin login for their own firewall.
How it works
- Tell us the symptoms. Where it's slow, when it drops out and what you've already tried. That points us at the right places.
- We visit and measure. A walk through the office with a Wi-Fi survey tool, a look in the network cupboard and a check of each device's settings.
- We map and rate it. We draw the network, then rate each finding red, orange or green with a short reason.
- You get the plan. Quick fixes first, then anything that needs new gear, with an honest view of what's worth replacing and what isn't.
Why WaTo for a network health check
- We design, cable and run business networks around Adelaide, so we check them the way we'd build them.
- We'll often fix a slow network with settings changes before suggesting new hardware.
- We check whatever brand of gear you already have, and only suggest replacing it when it's unsupported or genuinely holding you back.
- You keep the diagram and the passwords, documented and handed over properly.
Network health check questions
Will the check take our internet down?
No. We look and measure without changing anything. If a fix needs a restart, we book it for a quiet time.
Is a network health check the same as a network audit?
They overlap. A health check is the practical version: find the problems and rank the fixes. A full audit adds a complete device register, documented evidence and a costed plan, usually for insurance, compliance or a sale.
Do you need to replace our Wi-Fi?
Often not. Many Wi-Fi problems come from access points in the wrong spot, channels clashing with the shop next door, or old settings. We'll tell you when hardware really is the issue.
How long does it take?
A typical single-site office takes a few hours on-site, then a few days for us to write the report and draw the diagram.
